No Thinking Required
Auto-Suggest was made with you in mind. Creating shortcuts is not always at the top of our list of things to do. Even if we have the motivation to create a massive amount of shortcuts, sometimes we can't always think of them right away. This is where Auto-Suggest comes in handy.
This feature is automatically enabled when you install Ditto. It recognizes phrases you tend to use most often in any software using a phrase-capture mechanism. It intelligently deciphers when you complete a phrase. If it calculates that you've used this phrase a few times before, it will offer a suggestion to add the phrase to your shortcut library.
No involvement is required on your part. Auto-Suggest offers you the following benefits:
- Don't have to remember to add the phrase to Ditto
- Don't have to type the phrase manually in Ditto
- Don't need to deal with annoying "suggest popups" that interrupt your typing
- Don't have to worry about creating a shortcut with typos
- Don't waste time thinking of those phrases you always type but can't remember
You can chose to ignore the popup and Ditto will never suggest this phrase again (that would be annoying). If you do want to add the phrase to your library, simply click on it and the quick-add screen will pop up with the common phrase pre-filled for you.
All you have to do at this point is type in your preferred shortcut and select an optional group. Save it and you're done! We wanted to make it easier for you but, that wouldn't be any fun would it?
If you prefer not to add shortcuts as you type, the Common Phrase Report compiles a brief history of your common phrases. Simply add the phrases you would like by double-clicking the row or highlighting a row and pressing "Add Selection". Review your Common Phrase Report periodically to get the most out of Ditto's phrase recognition feature.
